What is a Professional Skills course?

A Professional Skills course is a short, focused certification built for upskilling rather than academic progression. Each one is made up of 3–5 units depending on the subject, takes an average of 3–4 weeks to complete, is studied entirely online and leads to a CBIT Certificate of Achievement. They do not carry a regulated qualification level.

Who awards the certificate?

Certificates are awarded by CBIT, the Centre for Business and Information Technology, a professional certification provider. On passing every unit assessment you receive a CBIT Certificate of Achievement together with a Record of Achievement.

What are the entry requirements?

There are none beyond practical ones. No prior work experience and no formal qualifications are required — the courses are open to anyone from any sector. You will need a good command of English to work through the course materials and study guides and complete the timed assessments, plus a computer and a stable internet connection to use the MyLearnDirect portal.

How are the courses assessed?

Assessment is entirely online through MyLearnDirect, with no exams to attend in person. Each unit has a multiple-choice assessment of 15 questions with a 40-minute time limit, and the pass mark is 60% — 9 correct answers out of 15. You take each one at a time that suits you within your support period.

How long do I have access to the course?

A single course carries a 6-month support period from your enrolment date, covering full access to the course content, the MyLearnDirect portal and all support services. If you enrol on a 3-course or 5-course bundle, your support period is extended to 12 months.

Is tutor support included?

Yes. Your fee includes up to two bookable 30-minute personal sessions with a qualified subject tutor, scheduled at your convenience, plus a 24/7 Dedicated Support Desk for queries and callback requests.
