  • Learner must be 18 years or older at the beginning of the course
  • Mature learners (over 21) with management experience
  • International students whose first language is not in English, they will need to have score of 5.5 or above in IELTS (International English Language Testing System)

Learners completing the OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management can progress to:

  • OTHM Level 6 Diplomas or
  • Will be eligible to gain direct entry into relevant Bachelor's degree programmes or
  • Directly into employment in an associated profession.

 

The OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management consists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 480 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

Learners must request before enrolment to interchange unit(s) other than the preselected units shown in the SBTL website because we need to make sure the availability of learning materials for the requested unit(s). SBTL will reject an application if the learning materials for the requested interchange unit(s) are unavailable.

Learners are not allowed to make any request to interchange unit(s) once enrolment is complete.

The point of this unit is to develop learners’ ability to examine contemporary issues that have an impact on the tourism and hospitality business and recognize the related information points from various sources.

This unit aims to provide learners with a deep understanding of the theories of marketing. Learners will develop the skill to do the application of the marketing mix in the right circumstances and to describe the role of effective marketing to the tourism and hospitality companies.

The point of this unit is to provide learners with information on operations management within the tourism and hospitality sector and the processes, project, and quality management to be retained in association with this function. Learners will develop the skill to apply operations management knowledge to tourism and hospitality companies and value the operations function.

This unit aims to provide students with basic theories and principles of financial accounting and financial management in the tourism and hospitality sector and also its practical application. This unit should be learned by considering the local, national and international legal status and its practical application.

The main intention of this unit is to provide learners with the skills to select and apply proper human resources theories to the tourism and hospitality sector. Learners will develop their ability in recruiting and retaining staff, and also the significance of training and development. Learners will get a deep knowledge of the importance of cultural diversity in Human resources.
