The Level-5 Diploma in Accounting and Business from IBT Qualifications equips learners with the necessary knowledge and skills required by middle managers who may be involved in various aspects of business such as financial management, financial reporting, financial planning/control, and human resource management. School of Business and Technology London internally assesses all the qualification units and the assignments are externally verified by IBT. A combination of coursework and assignments is used for assessment, and students must show that they meet each assessment criteria and learning outcomes detailed within each unit of the qualification to the required standard for the unit level.

Certificates will be awarded after assessing the candidate’s coursework and assignments. A qualified tutor will examine the evidence and make a decision, which is verified by the external verifier from IBT who will announce the ultimate results. To be awarded the certificates, candidates must pass all the six qualification units. Candidates need to achieve a 40% mark to pass each unit.

IBT Qualifications are endorsed by the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM), an Ofqual regulated awarding body, established in 1979. Upon completing the programme, learners will receive a certificate and transcript, dual-branded by IBT and ICM, which means that the certificate and transcript will be issued by ICM, along with the IBT logo.

The qualification has been designed to be accessible without artificial barriers that restrict access. In order to enrol for this programme, applicants must be aged 18 years or over. There are few other criteria as well, please see below:

  • Relevant Level 4 diploma or equivalent recognised qualification
  • Learner must be 18 years or older at the beginning of the course
  • Mature learners (over 21) with management experience
  • In the case of applicants whose first language is not English, then IELTS 6 (or equivalent) is required.

Successful completion of Level 5 Diploma in Accounting and Business qualification provides learners the opportunity for a wide range of academic progressions including progression to Level 6 Diploma in Accounting and Business, and other relevant  Level 6 Diplomas.

The successful completion of this qualification alone does not lead to a regulated qualification but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills gained. The modules completed may be also used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if the learners plan their further studies in this stream.

Learners must request before enrolment to interchange unit(s) other than the preselected units shown in the SBTL website because we need to make sure the availability of learning materials for the requested unit(s). SBTL will reject an application if the learning materials for the requested interchange unit(s) are unavailable.

Learners are not allowed to make any request to interchange unit(s) once enrolment is complete.
